Improvements Continue at Bayble Pier

Work has now begun on phase two of the improvements at Bayble Pier and are scheduled to be completed by the end of March. A stone mason is on site pointing between the stone work on the new mooring basin and rebuilding the walls of the old salt curing house.

The Phase 2 project also includes further deepening of the basin so that boats can get in and out at most states of the tide, a slipway for easy launching, pontoons for mooring, a picnic area, security camera, pathway and bridge over the river.  Bayble Boatowners and Pier Users Association are just short of the income required to convert the salt curing house into a public toilet and in order to avoid delaying the main project any further they have dropped this element for the time being.

The Community Council owned toilets at Bayble were closed last year as a result of repeated vandalism.  Moving them to the curing house would seem the best option as they would be in range of the security camera and therefore would be monitored. It is hoped that over the next few months BBOAPUA can raise the £8,000 needed to carry out the work
